Veronica “Mooch” Mitchell, 53, of Welch passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Charleston Area Medical Center. Born April 14, 1965 in Welch she was the daughter of the late Mack Shumate and Virginia Hawks Shumate. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bruce, Brice and Warren Shumate. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul Mitchell of Welch; a step-son, Kris Mitchell of Portland, Oregon; a brother, DenvailShumate and wife Charlotte of Lenoir, NC; three sisters, Beverly Peake and husband David of North Welch, Rachael Margo Stevenson and husband Billy of Rutledge, TN, and Ginger Carter of Roderfield; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 13, at 11 a.m. in the Douglas Mortuary chapel in Welch with Rev. Johnny Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
