SIDNEY H. WHITT            Sidney H. Whitt, 90, of War passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at his home. Born September 29, 1924 in War he was the son of the late Howard Samuel Whitt and Maggie Allison Whitt. He was a retired coalminer, and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church in War Cove.            In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Whitt; a grandson and granddaughter, Mark Edward Foster and Tabitha Lynn Foster; three sisters, Lorraine Silcox, Verda Cyphers, and Georgia Hockett; and a brother, Walker Whitt.            Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Paul David Whitt and wife Cathy, and Allen Curtis Whitt all of War; four daughters, Lee Ellen Hawley and husband Raymond of Portage, Mich., Dana Kay Akers and husband Luther of Hillsville, VA, Connie Carr and husband Marlin, and Rachel Rabic and husband Bryan all of War; and 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.            Graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 18, at 1 p.m. in the Whitt Family Cemetery in War Cove with Pastor Danny Cyphers officiating.            The Douglas Mortuary of Welch and War is serving the Whitt family.
