Katherine Bennett Sarks, 73, of Davy passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hinton. Born January 4, 1942 in Asco she was the daughter of the late Fredrick Morris Bennett and Allie Tilley Bennett. She was a homemaker, and of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Bennett Jr., and a grandson, Matthew Kane Bishop. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Arvide Dewayne Sarks of Blountville, TN; a son, Richard Rushbrook of Kimball; a daughter, Teresa Payne and husband Robin of Bluefield, VA; two brother, Andrew Bennett of Welch, and David Bennett and wife Donna of Davy; three sisters, Margaret Bennett of North Welch, Elizabeth Bennett of Bluefield, and Wanda Sheldon and husband Richard of Elgin, SC; five grandchildren, Kayla Shumate, Morris Rushbrook, Richard Rushbrook Jr., Corey Rushbrook and J.J. Lester; two great grandchildren, Chloe Carter and Noah Shumate. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 19 in the First Church of God, Davy with Rev. Charlotte Bolden officiating. Burial will follow in Asco Community Cemetery, Asco. Friends may call at the church Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. The Douglas Mortuary of Welch is serving the family.
