Homer Junior Mitchell, 71, of Asheboro, NC, formerly of Davy passed away in Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC. Born May 28, 1946 in McDowell County he was a former coalminer, and he loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Betty Ann Green Mitchell, and a son Homer Allen Mitchell, Jr. Those left to cherish his memory or his son, Ruben Mitchell and wife Donna of Asheboro; a daughter, Debbie Walls and husband Bobby of Ramseur, NC; and five grandchildren he loved, Nikki and Jamie Mitchell of Asheboro, and Robert, Stephanie and Christopher Walls of Ramseur; and five great grandchildren and one on the way. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 16, at 1 p.m. in the Douglas Mortuary Chapel in Welch with Pastor Marie Bolden officiating. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery, Big Jenny. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Douglas Mortuary of Welch is serving the Mitchell family.
