FREDERICK MACK "FRED" JORDAN

June 2, 1940 - January 14, 2022

Frederick Mack “Fred” Jordan, 81, of Big Sandy, WV, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born June 2, 1940 on Christian Mountain near Roderfield, he was the son of the late Kimball “Kim” Jordan and Margaret Christian. He was a former Fire Boss in the mines. After leaving the mines he opened his own businesses, The Roderfield Skating Rink and the Faidan Septic Service, one of the first in our area. Fred loved telling stories of his beloved homeplace, gardening, pitching horse shoes, sitting on the porch visiting with friends and dearly loved watching his grandchildren playing in the yard. In addition to his parents; his was preceded in death by a daughter, Blanche Wellman and Freddie Jr. One brother, Richard “Dickie” Jordan of Roderfield. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Bertha Costales Jordan of Big Sandy; his children, Kimball Jordan of Roderfield, Molly Jordan and Jonathan and wife Kristina of Big Sandy; one sister, Mona Jordan Rose of Maryland. He had 6 grandchildren, Kirsten Jordan and fiancé Josh Mitchem of Marytown, Katelynn, Kory, Jace and Summer of Big Sandy; great grandchildren are Zoey and Zaden Mitchem of Marytown; also precious family members, Dickie Jordan and Christian Trent who referred to him as dad. According to his wishes, Fred has been cremated and the family are planning a memorial at a later date. The Douglas Mortuary in Welch is serving the Jordan family.
