David Alan Chaffins, 58, of Davy went from this life into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Charleston Area Medical Center. Before he passed away he said “God’s the Boss.” Born June 25, 1957 in Welch he was the son of the late Luther Boyd Chaffins and Ruby Marie Green Chaffins. He was a former bus driver for the Council of Southern Mountains Head Start Program. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David Keith Chaffins; two grandchildren, Ayden Michael and Jayden Michael Chaffins; and a sister, Josephine Faye Kelly. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Debra L. Chaffins of the home; a son, Kevin Michael Chaffins and wife Scarlett of Billings, MT; three sisters, Brenda Harrison and husband Jim of Marytown, and Rita Gail Franklin and husband Russell of Davy; four brothers, John Chaffins of Princeton, Darrell Chaffins and wife Joyce of Hinton, Brady Chaffins and wife Carol and Fred Lacy Chaffins and wife Judy all of Marytown; five grandchildren, Amber Cheylene, Tyler Shane and Conner Jamison Chaffins all of Reidsville, NC, and Alexis Dawn and Hunter Chase Chaffins of Billings, MT; and many loved nieces and nephews. It was his wish to be cremated and the family has honored his wish. A memorial service to honor David’s life will be held Saturday, February13, at 2 p.m. in the Roderfield Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Angela Gillispie, Pastor Cathy Stone and Assistant Pastor Tommy Stone officiating. The Douglas Mortuary of Welch is serving the Chaffins family.
