Carol Gillespie Carter, 76, of Elkins, formerly of McDowell County, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Elkins. Born December 20, 1945 in Davy she was the daughter of the late Kelly Gillespie and Ethel Amburn Gillespie. She was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gillespie, and two sisters, Margaret Brumfield and Theda Brumfield. Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Ronald Carter and wife Penny of Elkins with whom she had made her home; a daughter, Regina Blankenship of Beckley; a sister, Shirley Hall of Big Sandy; three grandchildren, William Chester Blankenship III, Samantha Dawn Blankenship and Chance Michael Carter; and one great grandchild, Clay Michael Carter. Graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 1 P.M. in Iaeger Memorial Cemetery in Roderfield with Reverend Anthony Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
