Sammy Frost

Sammy Ray Frost, 69, of Welch, West Virginia, passed away Friday July 17, 2026, at Raleigh General Hospital. Born February 9, 1957, in Welch, he was the son of William David Frost, Sr and Pansy Elaine Snow. Sammy was a backhoe operator and worked in maintenance for the City of Welch. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Welch, along with his wife, and beloved church family. Sammy enjoyed hunting, fishing, flea marketing, and spending time with his grandkids. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who were blessed to be in his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Ray Hagerman, one brother, James Frost (Ersie), and three sisters, Sue Jewell, Alva Snow, and Pearl Brimm. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty years, Claudia Wilson Frost, of Welch, WV, his daughters Melissa Barnett (Donnie) of Johnson City, TN and Kristin Blankenship (Bradley) of Bluefield, WV; two brothers William David Frost Jr. (Phyllis) of Bluefield, WV, and Wesley Frost of Bluefield, WV; three sisters Vicky Carroll (Roger) of Bluefield, WV, Diana Scott (David) of Rural Retreat, VA, and Bobbie Campbell of Wingate, NC, one stepbrother Alvis Snow (Renee) of Morven, NC and one stepsister Angela Carty of TN; five special nieces Angela Underwood (Kevin), Lisa Horton (Mike), Cassie Fulford (Adam), Kim Hoffman (Josh), Jessie Mullins (Jason), and grandchildren Josh Hagerman, Jessica Hagerman, Donnie Barnett Jr. (Jennie), Ashley Barnett Jones (Nick), Brett Barnett (Hannah), Austin Barnett, Jadon Barnett; and great-grandchildren Faith Blankenship, Kimberlyn Blankenship, Nolan Barnett, Brooks Barnett and Eleanor Jones. Sammy is also survived by two special sisters in law Ellen McKenzie (Ronnie, deceased) and Melody Wilson (Clyde Jr, deceased); and several great nephews and nieces; two of his dearest friends Randy Lee and David Gullett, and his beloved dog, Joy.
