Nelson Eugene Vance, 57, of Welch, WV, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley. Born September 10, 1966, he was the son of Pauline Vance and the late Alexander Vance Jr. Nelson was a U.S. Army Veteran, a graduate from Pineville High School, a welder and skilled construction worker. He loved his Harley Davidson, NASCAR, and Charley his fur baby. Nelson was the proud husband of the late, Courtney Sharp Vance. They resided in Portland, TN and shared a daughter, Abigail Nicole Vance. He later returned to his roots, Welch, WV, where he resided at the time of his passing, but is now resting in Heaven after giving his heart to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joining his dad and wife, Nelson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ervin Roberts, Minerva Bea Roberts, Alexander Vance Sr. and Helen Smith; Stepmom, Brenda Sue Vance; Uncles, Mose Vance, Troy Roberts, Eddie and Ricky Vance; Aunts Phyllis Chapman and Lois Roberts; and Father-in-law, Bill Sharp. He is survived by his mom, Pauline Roberts Vance, Sister Teresa (Richard) VanDyke all of Welch; Daughter, Abigail Nicole Vance, also of Welch and Thea (Tyler) Walker of Bluefield, WV; Sister, Natasha Bradley; Brother, Donald Wayne Vance; Two Grandchildren, Greyson and Odeya Walker; two nieces and two nephews, Rayne and Ryder VanDyke of Welch, also Destiny and Dimitry Bradley of Springfield, TN; his aunts and uncles Janalee Roberts Vance, Arnold (Judy) Vance, Eddie (Peggy) Kessler, Tracy (Jamie) Roberts, Mother-in-law, Judith Sharp, Sister-in-law, Amanda (Jason)MacDougail, Bill (Anna) Mills, Marilyn Sharp; his special friends, Jimmy Dean Roberts, Pat Green and Eric Kinser with a host of cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, July 29, 2024 by his sister Reverend Theresa VanDyke, at Wilkinson and Wiseman Funeral Home in Portland, TN. Burial with Military Graveside Rites was conducted at Old Brush Cemetery. Pallbearers were friends and family. Local information is being supplied from the family by the Douglas Mortuary in Welch.
